Glasto 2010: Sunday (day 3)

Over-heard in the Oxfield:

Please can I borrow your shaver? I’ll get my boobs out!

Just answer my question please mate, I need to know! Can you moonwalk?

Shift 3, 2PM to 10PM

I am the Prince of Pennard Hill

The football has pulled tens of thousands away from the stages to two big-screen fields at opposite ends of the site. They were both full half an hour before kickoff.

Crowd reaction reaches the top of Pennard Hill a few seconds behind the radio commentary from the cafe behind me.

England have been Müllered on the counter twice in five minutes

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit

I can see the Gazebo from here, but only with the eye of faith

Fintan ran all the way to Pyramid and back on his break

Halfway through the final shift of the festival, and the ‘no dancing’ rule is finally starting to slip

We could be relieved any time in the next two and a half hours. A watched radio never receives.

Three down.

I and I seen Toots an’ di Maytals pon di West Holts stage an’ ting

Over-heard at the Jazz/World stage:

Oh no! I got sour cream in me ganja!

The One West Jazz Holts World stage is an entirely different experience to the other big out-door stages. 30 minutes before the Sunday headliners and one can still sit five metres from the front.

Saw Rodrigo y Gabriella. No lyrics. One could describe them as minimalist electro-acoustic stadium speed metal.

Shangri-La: best fake shop names ever?

Saw flame-throwers and acrobats in Arcadia, then saw Bez from Happy Mondays and podium dancers in a rave tent in Shangri-La

Saw sunrise at the stone circle
